Das Werk ‹Language of color› ist von der Idee der absoluten Fluidität inspiriert. Rochat beobachtet die Sprache des organischen Lebens und erforscht Materie, Wasser und Zeit.
In den 14 Bildwelten spielt die Künstlerin mit natürlichen und künstlichen Elementen, wobei sie sowohl kreative als auch zerstörerische Prozesse miteinander verbindet. Die Strukturen und Kompositionen verweisen auf unsere innere Welt; sie spiegeln ihre Dichte, ihre Schönheit und ihre ewigen Zeichnungen wider. Von da an wird das künstlerische Schaffen zu einer anderen möglichen Lesart der Welt, zu einer erneuerten Realität, zu einem erweiterten Fokus. «Wie der Berg bewegst du dich nicht durch Reaktionen, sondern du verarbeitest und verwandelst dich in dir selbst.»

Fan of color, in tension between light and darkness, the work ‹Language of color› is inspired by the idea of absolute fluidity as well as intrinsic duality. Rochat observes the language of organic life, exploring matter, water and time.
In these 14 pictorial worlds, the artist plays with natural and artificial elements, inter-binding both creative and destructive processes. The structures and compositions reference our inner world; they reflect its density, its beauty, and its perpetual drawings. From then on, artistic creation becomes another possible reading of the world, a renewed reality, a widened focus. «Like the mountain, you don't move by reactions, but you process and transform within you.»
ÜBER DIE KÜNSTLERIN
Maya Rochat ist eine bildende Künstlerin, die in den Bereichen Fotografie, Malerei, Video, Performance und Installation arbeitet. Sie hat sich einen Namen als experimentelle, aufstrebende Schweizer Künstlerin gemacht und stellt in der Schweiz sowie international aus, unter anderem in der Tate Modern Ausstellung ‹The Shape of Light: 100 years of Photography and abstract art› (2018).
Ihre Werke werden in verschiedenen bedeutenden Institutionen wie dem Palais de Tokyo, dem Kunsthaus Langenthal, der Gessnerallee, dem Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève oder dem Fotomuseum Winterthur präsentiert. Maya Rochat trat in der Tate Modern (south tank), im Musée cantonal des beaux-arts de Lausanne, im Theater Arsenic oder im Musée les Abattoirs de Toulouse auf.
Sie ist Preisträgerin des Prix Mobilière, des Stipendiums der Fondation Leenaards und des Abraham-Hermanjat-Stipendiums. ABOUT THE ARTIST
Maya Rochat is a visual artist working in the fields of photography, painting, video, performance and installation. She has developed a strong reputation as an experimental emerging Swiss artist, exhibiting in Switzerland and internationally, including the Tate Modern exhibition ‹The Shape of Light: 100 years of Photography and abstract art› (2018).
Her works are presented in diverse institutions of great significance such as Palais de Tokyo, Kunsthaus Langenthal, Gessnerallee, Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève or Fotomuseum Winterthur. Maya Rochat performed at the Tate Modern (south tank), Musée cantonal des beaux-arts de Lausanne, Theater Arsenic or Musée les Abattoirs de Toulouse.
She is a laureate of the prix Mobilière, the Fondation Leenaards Grant and the Abraham Hermanjat Grant. TABLEAU ZURICH ist ein gemeinnütziger Ort für visuelle Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Er befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe von Bellevue, Bahnhof Stadelhofen und Kunsthaus Zürich. Es werden pro Jahr zwei Ausstellungen gezeigt, welche 365 Tage im Jahr frei zugänglich sind.
TABLEAU ZURICH is a non-profit space for visual art in a public area. It is located in the immediate proximity of Bellevue, Stadelhofen train station and Kunsthaus Zurich. There will be two exhibitions per annum, which will be open to the public 365 days a year.
