Der Zürcher Künstler Alexis Saile zeigt in dieser Ausstellung einen Ausschnitt einer neuen Werkreihe welche in den letzten zwei Jahren entstanden ist. Mit Farbverläufen und geometrischen Formen geht er dabei elementaren Fragen der Existenz und Spiritualität nach.
Beeinflusst vom Alleine und dem Nichts begibt er sich auf die Suche nach der Komplexität in der Einfachheit. Das japanische ‹Ma› (wörtlich ‹Lücke, Raum, Pause›) spielt hier eine besondere Rolle – der negative Raum ist ebenso wichtig wie der Rest des Kunstwerks und wird zum Sinnbild für das gesamte Leben. Wie wichtig ist das Ego? Ab wann ist etwas banal? Ist das Leben immer nur Schwarz oder Weiss? Und wozu eigentlich das Ganze? Für was?

In this exhibition, Zurich artist Alexis Saile is showing a selection from a new series of works that he has created over the last two years. Using colour gradients and geometric forms, he explores elementary questions of existence and spirituality.
Influenced by solitude and nothingness, he embarks on a search for complexity in simplicity. The Japanese ‘Ma’ (literally ‘gap, space, pause’) plays a special role here — the negative space is just as important as the rest of the artwork and becomes a symbol for life as a whole. How important is the ego? When does something become banal? Is life always just black or white? And what is the point of it all? For what?
ÜBER DEN KÜNSTLER
Alexis Saile (*1972) ist ein ewig Suchender: Scheinbar mühelos bewegt er sich in seiner Kunst zwischen Zeichnung, Malerei, Skulptur, Musik, Performance, und vielem mehr. Ursprünglich gelernter Grafiker, beschäftigt er sich heute als wahrer ‹Überlebenskünstler› mit existenziellen Themen. Stets zwischen Euphorie und Verzweiflung – jedoch immer mit einem Augenzwinkern und viel Humor. Seine Arbeiten wurden in zahlreichen Ausstellungen und Publikationen gezeigt (u.a. message salon, Simonett & Baer).
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Alexis Saile (*1972) is an eternal seeker: in his art, he moves seemingly effortlessly between drawing, painting, sculpture, music, performance and much more. Originally trained as a graphic artist, he is now a true ‘survival artist’ who deals with existential themes. Always between euphoria and despair — but always with a wink and a lot of humour. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions and publications (including message salon, Simonett & Baer).
TABLEAU ZURICH ist ein gemeinnütziger Ort für visuelle Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Er befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe von Bellevue, Bahnhof Stadelhofen und Kunsthaus Zürich. Es werden pro Jahr zwei Ausstellungen gezeigt, welche 365 Tage im Jahr frei zugänglich sind.
TABLEAU ZURICH is a non-profit space for visual art in a public area. It is located in the immediate proximity of Bellevue, Stadelhofen train station and Kunsthaus Zurich. There will be two exhibitions per annum, which will be open to the public 365 days a year.
